DIM MAK STUDIOS RE-CAP/JGAL+ LAKERS /Meet Our Fans

Yo Yo Yo what it be jBlog readers? Yet another wonderful show has passed and we are excited to relish in the success that we received, thanks to our wonderful fans as well as the promoters! A very big THANK YOU to all who made it out!! for those of you who missed it, let me go ahead and give you a quick re-cap. Firstly, this night "Anti Pop" hosted by Eddie Donaldson of Guerilla One (guerillaone.com), Big DOXX, who also performed a set that night, and LRG was mainly focused on hip-hop, which of course your favorite band Johnny Got A Lighter anticipated.

As we have made it very well known, we love hip hop, rap, r&b and..basically almost any genre people! But hip hop is definately one of our favorites. Many a nights we get together with friends, throw on some music and just start freestyling over it. If music isn't available, soneone will beatbox. It's something that most of JGAL really enjoys doing, so this was our first opportunity to show all ya'll just how much we can dabble in the genre.

What better song to cover then an Interlude by the man himself Kid Cudi!? I stumbled upon this song in my obsessive listening to his music, and just started freestyling over it for fun. When this show came up I knew it was the perfect opportunity for JGAL. We wrote a whole song from just a 1 minute Interlude of Cudi's song and if you were RIDIC LEGIT (ridiculously legitamate) enough to roll up to our DIM MAK STUDIOS show you witnessed history! The video will come out soon... so stay tuned!

Aside from that, we played a set with a few new songs and one of which we allowed audience members to participate in! Cadence Da Sickaflo jumped on stage and did a freestyle right on top of our song, "Down." We will be opening up this song for aspiring freestylers to jump on stage at our next gig. So make sure to get ready for that awesomeness!!!

Meet our Fans:

We would like to introduce a new thing that we will be adding to the blog, which is this section called " Meet Our Fans." This section has been created to introduce you to some of the awesome people that have stuck by JGAL's side through thick and thin.


NARVELLE PLEDGER

This guy has been there for Johnny Got A Lighter since the VERY beginning supporting mad style! Ever since I can recall, we have seen Narvelle at almost every single show we had...and somehow he knows and is singing all the lyrics...most of them anyways. One night, at the legendary "Darby House" a bunch of us stayed up getting drunk till the wee hours of the night learning the chorus to "All Those Things (You Dont Want)." This song is now featured on our very first EP.  There is a picture below of Narvelle singing it at a show with us, he is also in our music video as well as our "HARASS KROQ" video! He hustles with the JGAL stickers, and he even helps us promote. Narvelle is a great asset to the JGAL family and we are greatful to have him as a friend and fan!

JUSTIN CUEVO

This guy has also been around since the very beginning of Johnny Got A Lighter, not only has he attended most shows but he has hustled many people to come out! Justin Cuevo, the man of the legendary "Darby House" was the house where JGAL filmed our first music video "Lost and Found", as well as a few very successful live broadcasts of justin.tv. He has been part of almost everything that we have done since the very start. From practices, music videos, promoting to partying his ass off with us and even, on occassion, singing the chorus live.  Justin is a wonderful addition to the JGAL family! And our live shows would definitely not be the same with out him.

DIM MAK STUDIOS/ NEW MUSIC!/ LAKER THEMED SHOW / JGAL NIGHT LIFE

YO YO YO.. What up CALI! As well as other wonderful states/countries that read J BLOG! If you are reading this then you should know that you KICK ASS!! We have some really cool shows coming up this month that we are all super stoked on. JGAL has been working diligently for some time creating new music for you guys to hear and once you do I am CERTAIN you will adore it.

One song we are so freaking happy to add to our bill is a cover of little interlude by our favorite man...KID CUDI but ofc with a JGAL twist!  I am not going to burn it all the way, you must come to the Cinespace show @ Dim Mak Studios this Thursday Feb 16th. Its going to a ridic-legit night that is CERTAIN not to be forgotten.

This duo has been doing some really neato shows together that including weekend nights at " ON THE ROX" located at "THE ROXY" in Sunset Hollywood. DJ KP or KID PEACE is a kick ass chick with a great musical ear. She will get you moving as she takes you through every genre from Old Hip Hop Classics to todays greatest top 40. She has even been known to play w a live violinist what what what......yup!! Do not miss out as her and Tib get down! Look forward to seeing KP mix it up with JGAL in the near future.

Yoder!!! I am happy to announce that the J-BLOG "JGAL LIFE" has reached and even surpassed 1000 reads! Woo hoo! Thank you to all the people who are keeping up with Johnny Got A Lighter as we do what we do trying to make it big! Thats right!  Going since 2008 JGAL has played shows from your moms backyard to Club Nokia, we aim high and we wont be stopping til we die. We are pretty gangster...

Because of that many celecbrities have made it out to this spot to  party that including one of Johnny Got A Lighter's all time favorite artist Scott Mascudi also know as "Kid Cudi". We all seriously have mad respect for this guy, and its totally we get to play somewhere he has played yes!!!

 This show is exciting because we are bringing back something we havent had in a long time THEMED SHOWS!!!! WIOO HOOO!!! This night we are going to make it easy for peeps and make it..LAKER THEMED!!!
Thats right, just wear your favorite laker gear or purp and yellow! Whatever you want make it happen! Lets all have fun supporting the LA LAKERS!!!

This night we will be playing with some really cool bands/acts that are all local /friends of Johnny got A Lighter.
Jessica Vasquez of Fourth and Jessie will be playing solo acoustic some really awesome folk music that will for certain pull on your heart strings.
Next up will be 1000 Needles  a three piece Indietronic, Bitpop, Geek Rock band (as they would call it)  This band is Definitly an unique mix of genres who will get ya dancing for sure.

JGAL plays DIM MAK STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD! KROQ UPDATE

Thats right people ! Johnny Got A Lighter has locked down a totally awesome show at Dim Mak Studios located in Hollywood Ca. If you have NOT heard of Dim Mak let me just give you a little history!  Steve Aoki son of former Olympic Wrestler  Rocky Aoki  founded the Record Label "Dim Mak". This dude is awesome, not only is he a sick DJ, have his hands all up in fashion and he is also responsible for getting some really legit projects/bands their start such as Bloc Party, The Kills, Klaxons, MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots, Mystery Jets, The Rakes, The Gossip and more!! I myself have had the wonderful opportunity of seeing him play with MSTRKFT as well as meeting him in person!

Yup...So I it is with great excitement that we get to play at this venue that is the home of the crackin ass party "Dim Mak Tuesdays". We will be playing on a Febuary 16 !
